As An Indie Author/Publisher, I Just Wanted To Say Thank You.
Stratum Press is a fledgling studio and publisher and we’ve just barely started, but through Kickstarter we’re gotten two projects funded: Hotel Erebus and CLEAVE. The Hotel Erebus hardcovers were shipped to pre-order customers weeks ago and CLEAVE is going to the printers next week. Late pledges are still open on CLEAVE if you want to pre-order the novella.
THE “HEROES OF NOCTURNE” CARD GAME IS COMING IN A FEW WEEKS
Stratum Press aren’t just publishing novels; we’re working on other things like card games. “Heroes of Nocturne” is a card game based on the universe introduced in Hotel Erebus. It’s a supernatural horror universe where agents of Darkness have flooded Earth and have declared spiritual warfare on humanity.
The Heroes of Nocturne card game is going to be awesome. We’ve been playtesting it for weeks, refining things. My business partner, JP, is the lead on Heroes of Nocturne—so it’s really his baby—but I’m consulting for the lore and helping where I can. I devised the world, but he’s the expert in card games. It is exciting to see it come together. It’s already effectively done except for some slight value changes here and there, but it will be ready for the print shop when the Kickstarter goes live.
After Heroes of Nocturne is done being fulfilled, the Mad Malitia project will be getting ready for its Kickstarter.
Mad Malitia is a wild and sexy cyberpunk novel set in the year 2147 when AI and automation has provided humanity-scale levels of abundance where human labor is a thing of the past. A criminal activist syndicate called the Disciples of Nyx is targeting masses of humans who’ve opted to go into self-induced sleep to indulge in hyper-immersive virtual reality simulations rather than live in relative boredom in a post-scarcity world. The Disciples plot is growing increasingly dangerous and fears abound that lives will be lost if their extremism isn’t curtailed.
Malitia Kane is a security officer for Bathsheba Bay, a human-relations agent empowered to enforce the law and ensure that the human citizens of the Bay know that flesh is still sovereign. Put on the case to crack down on the Disciples of Nyx, Malitia discovers a conspiracy to destroy the entire system. Working with her lover and partner, Jax and a sentient synthetic human female named Lora, Malitia is hell-bent on stopping the Disciples before they throw the city—and possible the entire planet—into uncontrollable chaos. Mad Malitia is drop-dead sexy, she’s got a dead-eye of an aim and she always gets her man.

The book will be the first proper, full-length novel to be published by Stratum Press. Page count is looking to be around 230. 82-85k words. The Kickstarter pre-order page is expected to go live in late-April after the Heroes of Nocturne rewards are sent to their respective owners. The Mad Malitia book will be ready to ship when the Kickstarter ends, just like Hotel Erebus and CLEAVE.
Make no mistake; Stratum Press is working hard every day to produce more fun stuff for your eyes and ears. The summer will open up new opportunities beyond books and games like 3D-printed figurines, statues and more.
